CONFESSIONS

Throughout history, Baptist peoples have published summaries of their beliefs in statements or confessions of faith. As they are not part of inspired canon, such documents must never supplant God’s Word as final authority. But these confessions testify to God’s promised maintenance of the succession of truth and have historically weathered the tests of both Scripture and time. Grace Covenant Church has adopted the 1689 London Baptist Confession as our official statement of faith, with the exception that we do not maintain, with Chapter 26, paragraph 4, that “the Pope of Rome . . . is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition” mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:2–9.
